This past weekend local chapters of San Diego Girls Scouts celebrating 100 years of scouting cleaned up area beaches and then passed out toy animals they bought or donated to sheriff’s deputies and fire fighters to pass out to children in need of comfort.

Throughout this year Girl Scouts of America will be celebrating their 100 years of scouting in various ways across the United States. On March 1912 Juliette “Daisey” (5 to 6 year olds are called Daisey) Gordon Low established the first troupe in Savanah, Gerorgia. Juliette felt it was important for girl’s to get outside and play sports and develop physically, mentally and spiritually.
