Coast Hwy Trader’s Pete Memoriam

I am a long time fan of Coast Hwy Traders in Encinitas just Southwest of the Encinitas Street sign.

The store was a constant draw for me over the years and not only did I discover awesome products and gifts I found something even greater-my friend Bev and her dog Pete.

As Bev and I became friends we got together and that is how I met Peter or Pete. I remember when my husband and I first drove up to her home and I had just exited the car and Petie jumped up in the car and started licking my husband and it was so funny. Pete was a regular at all of the parties and festivities and every time he thought we were all there to see him.

I don’t think I ever thought of him as a dog. Even now I miss him but he had a long life with the best owner ever. I have to say he was spoiled and loved every minute of being spoiled. Food was there when he needed it. Other dogs came to visit and there was nothing but love between him and all who got to know him.

Of course his mama was there to dry him off and even carried him.

Even though Pete got to live in Encinitas sometimes there were those darn old rainy days.

Pete "suffering" another rainy walk.

However there were plenty of sunny day walks like the one here with his mom.

Sunny day with Mama Bev and Pete.

And that is the way I will remember him…
