Each year the San Diego Zoo offers free admission in October for children ages 3-11 when accompanied by an adult. The annual promotion started more than 20 years ago to celebrate the founding of the Zoo on October 2, 1916.

Following the Zoo’s lead, the San Diego Museum Council is offering free admission in October at 24 museums for children who visit with a paid adult. In addition to the always-free Timken Museum of Art, eight Balboa Park museums are participating:

  • Marston House Museum and Gardens
  • Reuben H. Fleet Science Center (galleries only)
  • San Diego Air & Space Museum
  • San Diego History Center
  • San Diego Model Railroad Museum
  • San Diego Natural History Museum
  • The San Diego Museum of Art
  • Veterans Museum & Memorial Center

Families can download a coupon from the SDMC website. The offer is limited to two children ages 12 and under per paid adult admission ticket and doesn’t include special events or field trips
