Raining Dogs (and cats)

When you love pets like we do your heart goes out to dogs and cats that are rescued from shelters and that is where Kris Nelson,  artist and activist started to change and find places for animals that otherwise would be euthanized. She along with other volunteers like Elaine Godzak and Alisa Trehjo founded Saving Pets One at a Time or SPOT. This non-profit group has saved and placed 524 pets from local shelter and found them foster parents and homes for pets that had special needs to get them well.  They are hosting a luncheon to raise money all of which goes to take care of the pets and a minimal amount towards office supplies.

There are several ways you can get involved:

  1. Volunteer to foster animals-you are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week and provide a warm safe enviornement.
  2. Attend the luncheon (sign up on their site: or donate gift baskets/items for the auction
  3. Donate if you can’t attend and that will sponsor interested Marine Families to attend the luncheon through YMCA

See the details below from the Spot website. An example of Spot care for animals they found a puppy in a paper bag left in an East County park two weeks ago.
